Decibel Calculator
This calculator converts between the decibel forms AV work actually uses. Ratio mode applies 20 log for voltage-like quantities and 10 log for power, which is why doubling voltage is +6 dB but doubling amplifier power is +3 dB. Level mode converts RMS volts to dBu (re 0.7746 V) and dBV (re 1 V) and compares against +4 dBu pro and -10 dBV consumer line level. SPL mode sums two uncorrelated sources by energy, which is why two equal sources gain exactly 3 dB.
